What’s the difference between general and legal transcription?

General transcription covers a wide range of industries, like education, marketing, business, media, interviews, and podcasts. Legal transcription uses the same core skills and adds specialized knowledge: legal terminology, court documents, depositions, hearings, and strict formatting standards. The best fit depends on your interests and comfort level with legal material.

How long does the course take?

Most students finish the General or Legal course in about two to four months, depending on their skill level and available time. It’s fully self-paced, so you can go as quickly or as slowly as you need.

How long do I have access? Are updates included?

You get lifetime access, and all future updates are included at no extra cost. Your access never expires.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. Every option can be paid in 3 monthly payments. Just choose the “3 monthly payments” link under the course you want.

Will I get a certificate? Is the course accredited?

Students who complete the course and pass the final exam receive a Certificate of Completion. There’s currently no national accreditation for transcription programs, but Transcribe Anywhere is an approved school through the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT).

Will I have support as a student?

Yes. You’ll have direct access to the instructor and assistants, plus a supportive student community, for guidance and answers as you work through the material.
